Uber Driver Charged For Sexual Assault On Female Passenger

An Uber driver, from Boston, who is accused of sexually assaulting a female passenger while on his job appeared in the Newton District Court on Tuesday. 34-year-old Luis Baez of Boston was charged with three counts of rape.

Officials stated that on 29th September, 2016, Baez picked up the victim in Boston while driving for the Uber under the name of Pedro Valentin.

He then drove to a location which was not her request, then he sexually assaulted her, and drove her to the Boston College, according to the officials. The victim was able to report about the incident to campus police.

Uber responded to the allegations on Tuesday and said: “What’s been described is a horrible crime and we will continue to fully support law enforcement. Uber blocked this individual’s account as soon as we learned about this alleged incident.”

BC Police and also Boston police collaborated to identify the driver’s true identity and discovered that he was known to police.

Baez was released on cash bail of $2,500 and was also ordered to stay away from Boston College.

He is scheduled to return to the court on 21st June, 2017.
