‘Chai’ needs no introduction for Indians and Southeast Asians. It is commonly called as ‘Chai tea’ by westerners. A sip of this distinctive style of milk-based tea, Masala tea, is a must to be consumed by everyone during this winter and enjoy that peculiar ‘relaxing’ feeling. No one on this earth can describe the feeling in words. The Masala tea recipe is simple yet perfect for a cold day. If you are under sickness associated with cold weather, it’s time to have the relaxing effect of Masala Chai. Ingredients or items needed to make Masala tea

A tea top or container
Tea strainer or mesh strainer
Chai or Tea powder: 1 tea spoon
Milk - whole milk gives good taste yet skim is acceptable: 1.5 cups
Sweeteners like sugar, jaggery, etc.
Spices include:
cinnamon bark: 3 pieces (ground)
fresh ginger: 2 inches
green cardamom: 2 capsules
cloves: 2
bay leaves:2
crushed black peppercorns: 1 table spoon

Preparation Instructions

Combine all ingredients except milk and sweetener, and boil for 10 minutes. Strain. Add the hot milk, and mix, with your choice of honey or brown sugar.

Helpful Hints

Place the ground cardamom in a tea bag, or muslin bag, if you don't want cardamom sediment in your chai.
