JSW MG Motor India has recently revealed that the forthcoming extended-range iteration of the Windsor EV will be named Windsor Pro. Its official debut is scheduled for tomorrow, where it is expected to showcase a larger battery pack, enhanced range, improved safety features, and a more technologically advanced interior. The promotional teaser video indicates that the new Windsor Pro maintains the same aesthetic as the current Windsor EV. The Pro version retains a luxurious design highlighted by elegant lighting fixtures, seamless door handles, and connected LED strips at both ends. Notably, it features a fresh set of eye-catching 18-inch alloy wheels.
Internally, the layout of the Windsor Pro mirrors that of the Windsor, featuring a prominent, floating central touchscreen infotainment system, a flat-bottom, two-spoke steering wheel, and a digital instrument panel. The teasers suggest that the interior will sport black and beige leather upholstery, faux wood accents, and copper detailing. A significant enhancement in the safety department includes the addition of an ADAS suite with the Windsor Pro. The carmaker's promotional materials hint at enhanced styling and conveniences, suggesting the inclusion of new features.
The Windsor Pro is anticipated to utilize the same electric motor as the standard model, producing 134bhp and 200Nm of torque, driving the front wheels. An update is evident in the battery specifications, as the teaser animations indicate an increase in battery capacity. While MG has not disclosed the precise battery size, it’s anticipated to incorporate the 50.3kWh battery pack found in the ZS EV, which boasts a claimed range of 460km on a single charge. This upgrade represents a substantial enhancement compared to the existing Windsor’s 38kWh battery, which has a claimed range of 332km. Additionally, the promotional materials hint at V2L (Vehicle to Load) technology being a new feature of the Pro.
The initial pricing for the new MG Windsor Pro will be officially announced tomorrow. Given the array of advanced features and extended range being introduced, it is evident that the Windsor Pro will be positioned at a higher price point than the Windsor. Nevertheless, the additional upgrades and features are likely to significantly enhance its attractiveness compared to the current Windsor model.
