Uber has introduced the in- app tipping feature in India in order to help its driver- partners in increasing their earnings from the platform. This feature has already been introduce by the ride- hailing company in the United States two years ago.

The sources say that the feature has been started two months ago in India in the city of Mumbai and is now available in over 50 cities. The sources added saying that the feature is presently available only to the riders who will be paying through the Paytm wallet.

Prabhjeet Singh who is the head of the city operations of Uber India South Asia has said that Uber has always been in search for the opportunities to showcase respect and appreciation to its driver partners as they are the heart of everything that is being done by the ride- hailing app.

He also added saying that hundreds and thousands of driver partners of Uber are being rewarded with five star ratings every year and the new feature that has been initiated by the ride- hailing app will now enable the riders to thank the driver partners who have delivered exceptional service, by giving him a tip that has been added as a feature in the Uber app.

The riders who are paying through Paytm are being provided with the option to tip the driver- partner, after the completion of the trip. The option to tip the driver- partner is available by four options of Rs 25, 50, 100 and ‘enter custom amount’  are shown to the rider in the app.

The option of the rider going back to the trip in order to add a tip is also been provided by the ride- hailing app.
