According to the office of John McCain, the senator from Arizona, has been diagnosed with brain cancer on Wednesday. This has also put a question mark whether he will return to the Capital to resume his Senate duties.

The doctors from the Mayo Clinic had found a tumor, known as Glioblastoma, after a surgery to remove a blood clot from above his left eye around last week. McCain, with his family, is now exploring the options for the treatment along with the effective combination of Chemotherapy and Radiation.

The 80-year-old McCain was away from the Senate during this whole week to recover from the surgery. Even though doctor had told that the Senator is in excellent health, they refused to tell anything about when he will return.

According to the experts, this is a major loss for the Republicans. Absence of McCain will also leave the Trump Administration with 51 votes in the Senate, when the Republicans are divided on various important issues such as health care, defense spending as well as taxes.

McCain has received a support from his colleagues on social media as the President called him a “fighter” and wished him “Get well soon”. Former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, too, wished him his best wishes.

McCain, who has been a prisoner of war in the Vietnam, has also been a two-time Presidential candidate and has been a critic of President Trump’s policies on Foreign issues as well as national security.

He had defended President Donald Trump’s National Security Team and has respect for the Defense Secretary Jim Mattis and adviser H.R. McMaster. However, he has badly criticized Trump’s alleged closeness with Russia and its President Vladimir Putin. He is of the opinion that Russia should never be trusted and is an enemy. He was also one of the few Republicans who supported the Congressional investigation in Russia’s interference in the Presidential Elections in 2016.
