'Hamilton' National Tour Coming to Boston?

The national tour of a smash Broadway show "Hamilton: An American Musical" is coming to Boston, but you will have to wait until 2018 to see it.

As per the Boston Globe, Broadway in Boston announced the show will come to Boston after it heads to San Francisco in the March for five months, and then to Los Angeles until the December.

The exact dates have not yet been announced by the Broadway.

The national tour of Hamilton is being led by Michael Luwoye, who is the fifth actor to play the title role of Alexander Hamilton. The tickets for show have been notoriously difficult to obtain, with shows selling out and also the ticket lottery winners only having an hour to make a purchase.

The musical made history in the last year, earning a record 16 Tony nominations and also winning 11 awards.

Hamilton: An American Musical is a sung-through musical about the life of an American founding father Alexander Hamilton, with the music, lyrics and a book by Lin-Manuel Miranda. The show, inspired by the year 2004 biography Alexander Hamilton by historian Ron Chernow, achieved both critical acclaim and also box office success.

The musical made its Off-Broadway debut at The Public Theater in the February 2015, where its engagement was sold out. The show transferred to Broadway in the August 2015 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. On the Broadway, it received enthusiastic critical reception and also unprecedented advance box office sales. In the year 2016, Hamilton received a record-setting 16 Tony nominations, winning 11 awards, including the Best Musical, and was also the recipient of the 2016 Grammy Award for the Best Musical Theater Album and the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The prior off-Broadway production of Hamilton won the 2015 Drama Desk Award for the Outstanding Musical as well as seven other Drama Desk Awards out of the 14 total nominated categories.

Chicago production of Hamilton opened at the PrivateBank Theatre in the September 2016. The first U.S. national tour of the show began performances in the March 2017. A production of Hamilton will open in the West End in the November 2017 at Victoria Palace Theatre. A second U.S. tour is also set to begin performances in the early 2018.
