A Boston Duck Boat had part of its roof ripped off on Sunday while trying to pass under a bridge on Storrow Drive in Boston.

Video posted on Twitter showed that the duck boat just feet beyond the Charles Street was overpassing with part of its roof on the roadway.

The company that operates the duck tours said in a statement on Sunday night, "A first year Driver was diverted off the standard tour route due to Beacon Hill (Beacon Street) being closed," .

The company said the rear part of the duck that, Miss Emma Science, made contact with the overpass and sustained some damage to the convertible roof and ladder.

Storrow Drive was restricted to commercial traffic due to the low height of the bridges.

The company said in the statement, "Duck boats do not typically travel on Storrow Drive and the driver’s actions, although not intentional, will be under review by company safety experts who will conduct a thorough analysis of this event."

There was no report of injuries.

Steve McDonald, with the Boston Fire Department, said that the duck boat was moved to Leverett Circle where passengers boarded another duck boat.

McDonald said, "Due to the damage to the back stairs, passengers stepped off the duck boat using a small ladder provided by the Boston Fire Department" .

State police said that the vehicle was not allowed to travel eastbound on Storrow Drive due to height restrictions.
